WANJU – The farewell event closing out LOGODI’s Local Administration Development Program for 13 officials from eight countries took place today at the institute’s headquarters in Wanju.
LOGODI President Bae Jin-hwan presided over the closing ceremony to present to each of the now alumni their certificates of completion and deliver congratulatory remarks for their achievements over the past couple of weeks. Recognizing the new and strengthened relationships formed among the program participants and with their respective partner local governments, President Bae stated, “You are now in our worldwide network of alumni, and I hope you will be a key figure for us to reinforce our cooperation.”
Mr. Margarito Perez Sevilla, Jr., Secretary for the Legislative Council of San Juan Municipal Government in Batangas, Philippines, responded on behalf of the delegation, which further included representatives of Armenia, Cambodia, Colombia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. He thanked President Bae and LOGODI for being a “gift to humanity” in the sharing of Korea’s experience in development with nations like his and the others represented in this program. He further pledged that he and his peers would take the newly acquired expertise back to their respective countries and find ways to adopt and incorporate according to their systems.
Fellow participants stressed the importance of expanding their cooperative relationship with LOGODI moving forward, and agreed to stay in contact via social media and otherwise.
The conclusion of this year’s program comes a day after a seminar in which each participant presented to their peers on case studies from their local governments and institutions. The dialogue analyzed key issues from a range of model policies and projects and aimed to provoke the exchange of experiences, sharing of insight, and innovation.
Before returning to their countries, the participants will enjoy the last cultural activity of the program in Seoul Special Metropolitan City.
