Thursday, March 1, 2018
WANJU - A specialized training program organized by LOGODI to present current issues related to ASEAN member states and India, and expand cooperative partnerships to take advantage of the region’s emerging markets, took place from February 26 to 28.
Over the course of the program, 24 central and local government officials and public enterprise employees from around the nation listened to talks by practitioners and scholars from diverse areas of expertise.
From the public sector were guest speakers from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), and Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency, with NGO representatives from the Asan Institute for Policy Studies and the Institute of Indian Studies, Korea (IISK). They were joined by professors from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and Kangwon National University, who shared their insights on country-focused topics.
Among the seven presentations were discussions on Islam in Indonesia, a comparative analysis of Korea and Thailand, a look at local government investment strategy in Vietnam, and predictions for the future of India.
The program served to broaden the context of participants' understanding of Korea's "New Southern Policy," announced by President Moon Jae-in during his trip to the region last November. It is expected to have prepared them as they advance in their respective cooperative partnerships across South and Southeast Asia.
