WANJU – A delegation of 14 officials from the Government of Ethiopia and the Oromia Regional State Leadership Academy (ORSLA) came to LOGODI today for an introduction to the institution, its training programs planned for the year, and its newly redeveloped management system LOTIS.

LOGODI President Park Byungho received the distinguished guests, who were led by Dr. Tola Barisoo, Head of the Oromia Regional Education Bureau, and accompanied by H.E. Shiferaw Jarso, Ambassador of Ethiopia to Korea. Also present were officials from ORSLA, including its general director, deputy general directors, directors, and others.

Dr. Barisoo remarked that his country’s new prime minister, who was sworn in today and hails from the regional state, has pledged to carry out a series of reforms that will make the capacity building of public officials all the more necessary. He further stressed the importance of Ethiopia’s relations with Korea—with currently around 600 residents and 20 corporations from Korea present in Ethiopia—and expressed hopes to find new areas of cooperation with LOGODI.

LOGODI’s presentation for the study visit outlined the institution’s history, Framework, organization, functions, and series of domestic and international programs scheduled for 2018. It further included an overview of the LOGODI Training Information System, or LOTIS—the management system for training programs carried out by the institute, which was redeveloped and launched earlier this year.

The four-hour exchange served as a follow up to a separate meeting with mayors of cities across Oromia Regional State last year in June. Oromia is the largest regional state in Ethiopia, and is home to the country’s capital Addis Ababa.

LOGODI’s relations with Ethiopia were initiated in 2002, with a visit by the head of the Inspection Department at Oromia Public Service Bureau. Since then, Ethiopians have taken part in training programs and study visits at LOGODI, from the Ministry of Federal Affairs (2007), Meles Zenawi Leadership Academy (2014), Addis Ababa City Government (2013, 2015, and 2016), and Oromia Regional State (2017).
