LOGODI establishes MOU with British Council in Korea

Thursday, June 21, 2018

WANJU – LOGODI and the British Council in Korea concluded an MOU this morning during a signing ceremony at the institute’s headquarters in Wanju.

Representatives of the British Council including its Director, Mr. Martin Fryer, and Business Development Manager, Ms. Jaemoon Hwang, were received by LOGODI President Park Byungho to discuss the path ahead, in advance of a signing ceremony for the MOU.

The bilateral agreement establishes mutual exchange and cooperation between the institutions in the field of education and training. As the basis for LOGODI’s first formal partnership in Europe, the MOU sets the Framework for the British Council’s support of LOGODI’s Global Leaders Program and others through tests and lectures in English, along with consultative services with regard to overseas policy study programs and coordination with overseas institutions for official visits.

At the signing ceremony, President Park stated to his distinguished guests how fortunate his institute is to have this chance to share the know-how of its new partner, for the development of Korean local government officials’ international expertise through practical language skills and global mind-sets.

There are presently 28 trainees in this year’s 3rd Global Leaders Program, for which instructors from the British Council are scheduled to conduct 105 hours of courses in business English from July to November.

In his responding remarks before conclusion of the MOU, Mr. Fryer acknowledged the UK’s role in having developed—and, now, in contributing further to—the wealth of knowledge of English, as one of the world’s leading languages. He stressed his institution’s commitment to a mutual exchange of ideas with LOGODI, and shared his best wishes for the advancement of the new relationship.

Following the event, Mr. Fryer delivered a special lecture to the global leaders on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and creative industries in the UK. The talk is his second for LOGODI, only several months since his presentation on the UK’s priorities and challenges in the 21st century, delivered at the global leaders’ self-transformative training in Namwon City.

The MOU is effective for three years from today, at the end of which it may be renewed upon mutual arrangement.
