Tuesday, July 31, 2018
WANJU – The Commissioner for the Victorian State Government to Korea and Japan met with senior officials today at LOGODI, to explore possibilities for mutual exchange and cooperation.
Commissioner Adam Cunneen represents the interests in Northeast Asia of Australia’s most densely populated state, with its capital city of Melbourne. Based in Tokyo, Mr. Cunneen was accompanied on his trip to Wanju by the Victorian Government Trade and Investment’s Education Services Manager in Korea, Betty Chung.
During the meeting with LOGODI Director General for Planning Choi Myungkyu and senior officials from the International Training & Cooperation Division, the delegation presented an overview of Victoria’s training institutions and programs carried out for local government officials, domestically and abroad. The discussion further acquainted the delegates with key programs of interest at LOGODI, including the Global Leaders Program and the series of international programs that have thus far taken in 4,941 officials from 88 countries worldwide.
Mr. Cunneen expressed a strong interest in establishing close institutional interaction between LOGODI and its available counterparts in Victoria, to share ideas on training strategy, curriculum development, and other areas of opportunity. Any intersectionality found could lead to further cooperation in programs for local government officials in Korea, such as via trainee exchanges and workshops in Victoria, he believed.
LOGODI thanked the Commissioner and Ms. Chung for their interest in representation of the Victorian Government, and agreed to keep the lines of communication open as the discussion between them develops. In the meantime, LOGODI conveyed its desire to work toward inviting Mr. Cunneen as a special lecturer for its global leaders, to present on a topic concerning stimulation of the regional economy in Victoria.
