LIMA – LOGODI has formally established its first partnership in Latin America, with the National Authority for Civil Service of the Republic of Peru (SERVIR), as of Friday, September 15.

The “Arrangement Concerning Mutual Exchange and Cooperation in the Field of Education and Training of Public Officials,” entered into in Lima by LOGODI President Bae Jin-hwan and SERVIR Executive President Juan Carlos Cortes Carcelen, comes at the start of what is also the first on-site training in the region by LOGODI. President Bae is joined on the trip by the Director of the International Training & Cooperation Division as well as subject matter experts from Korea.

The bilateral arrangement introduces the institutions’ endeavor to cooperate in the exchange of experts and information for education and training purposes, the execution of capacity development programs for public officials, and the organization of joint conferences and seminars of mutual interest.

The ten-day mission across Lima, Cusco, and Piura from September 14-23 is further scheduled to include talks with ENAP – the country’s national school of public administration – and meetings with local governments and academic institutions, among others. LOGODI will host workshops and conferences focused on the theme of “Government Innovation, Performance Management, and Disaster Management,” to share Korea’s experience, lessons, and recommendations, amid strategic dialogue with 430 of its alumni and other officials in Peru.

LOGODI relations with Peru started in 2000, when two of the country’s officials took part in its Local Administration Development Program launched that year, sponsored by KOICA. Since then, a total of ten have completed the program, along with 28 others from LOGODI’s customized Capacity Development Program for Public Administration (Peru), the latest of which took place earlier this year in April.
