FUZHOU – Over 100 officials and scholars from government agencies and academic institutions across the Republic of Korea and the People's Republic of China convened in Fuzhou last Friday for an annual seminar jointly hosted by LOGODI and Tsinghua University.
Focused on the theme of "Big Data and the Smart City," the seminar was composed of three sessions, which respectively discussed big data and smart city development; smart city management by local governments and administrative innnovation; and international exchange and cooperation for the spread of smart cities.
This year's theme expands on last year's—which examined big data in the context of administrative innovation—with the purpose to share information on smart city development aims and strategies in Korea and China, and to provide a forum for cooperation as local governments are reshaped.
Delegates from Korea included LOGODI President Bae Jin-hwan and the Director of the International Training & Cooperation Division, along with moderators and speakers from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), Korea Institute of Public Administration (KIPA), Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute (KLID), Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS), Seoul National University, Kyungsung University, and Busan Metropolitan City.
Also serving on the discussion panels were professors from Tsinghua University and Fuzhou University along with a representative of Fuzhou-based online game and mobile app developer NetDragon Websoft.
The seminar marks the 11th since the series began in 2007, and follows the tenth anniversary of the event, which was celebrated last September in Jeju.
