On November 5, 2020, over 100 officials and scholars from government agencies and academic institutions across the Republic of Korea and the People's Republic of China convened for the 14th LOGODI-Tsinghua Seminar.
This year, LOGODI has adapted the seminar to an online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 2007, LOGODI has jointly organized the annual seminar on an alternating basis with Tsinghua University’s School of Continuing Education (SCETU), the People's Republic of China. Each year, the seminar serves as a platform to share knowledge and good practices on public administration and regional development. Also, it contributes to enhancing a common understanding of opportunities and challenges linked to local governance and policy issues faced by both countries.
The 14th LOGODI-Tsinghua Seminar focused on the theme of Future Opportunities and Challenges to Sustainable Development in the Post-COVID-19 Era, which was composed of three sessions, including the roles of government in emergencies and responses to the pandemic in the region, digital economic growth and resilience in local government, and enhancement of local government’s capacity and international exchanges & cooperation.
Each sessions consists of presentations by representatives from Korea and China, followed by panel debates, which has presented an opportunity for the countries to share relevant cases and paths forward.
During the opening ceremony for the event, Vice Minister Lee Jae-young, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, praised the 14 years of fruitful cooperation between LOGODI and Tsinghua University, through which this seminar has connected leading experts on a broad range of issues toward the mutual advancement of Korea and China.
